“ Veritas is a Canadian non profit organization dedicated to journalism in the public interest and fostering a new generation of investigative reporters. Robin’s firm has been instrumental in helping us craft a new fundraising strategy. Robin and her team helped us scale our goals to meet our ambitions at a time when investigative reporting is more critical than ever. We could not have done this without Robin’s sage guidance and professionalism.”

“We engaged Robin Heller to work with us on a fast-paced $30 million endowment campaign for our 30th anniversary. She worked with a committee of high-profile board members to organize the campaign and support seven-figure “asks.” We’re well on our way.”
Johnny C. Taylor
President and CEO Emeritus,
Thurgood Marshall College Fund
“One of the first people I thought of as my small team and I began planning our journalism non profit is Robin Heller, partly because of her many contacts in the philanthropic world but also because she knew more than any of of us the hurdles we would be facing and how to plan for them. We would not have succeeded without her support and wise counsel.”
“Robin Heller and her team are a terrific asset for any organization. Robin brings a long track record of success in development. Her team fills out a suite of necessities, such as research and grant writing. They are a talented, capable and powerful force for good.”

“The RHI team was deeply knowledgeable and provided outstanding research to our young, growing organization. As important, was Robin’s ability to listen thoughtfully and wisely to the priorities of our board members and senior team. We emerged with a clear plan and practical advice.”

Ready to RISE
Go from idea to income.
(by invitation only)
Artist in Residence Program
with Eleni Litt of Yellow Ladder Studio.
It takes a special mix of vision, talent and structure to get a nonprofit organization off the ground. We have seen good ideas come and go. But if you’re the rare fledgling organization with everything going for it, we’re ready to help you RISE.
Our new program is Ready to RISE. RISE stands for Relationships-Infrastructure-Strategic Planning-Expenses. We will help you analyze the relationships you have (board, contacts, partners), the infrastructure you have in place (charitable status, fiscal sponsorship, basic staffing), the strategic planning that you have in place (or need to) for the next one-to-three years, and the expenses (the budget for Years One to Three). We will help you understand where you stand and what needs to be done, and how. We’ll help you visualize how far along you are with these key elements of starting a nonprofit. All of this will be done with your fundraising in mind—on what you need to do now to ensure your financial health. And based on your progress or gaps, we will help you identify a minimum of 15 funders who could invest in your work. We’ll review that information with the key stakeholders of your choosing—your senior leadership, your investors, or your board. This is a six-to-eight week undertaking. We leave you with a report and the guidance to go forward—immediately or when the time is right.
This is an invitation-only program. We say “no” more often than “yes.” But if you think you’re ready to rise, please be in touch.
IncuBetter is an investment in entrepreneurs focused on building their own businesses in support of strong nonprofits. The IncuBetter Fellowship was created in 2020, to scale up good ideas that benefit the social justice sector. We select an entrepreneur with a bold idea and, over the course of six months, give them a few resources toward a business goal. We offer a modest stipend for training, website development, branding, travel. We offer our own ideas and access to our networks. Our inaugural IncuBetter Fellow is Hana Mandikova, who imagined a fundraising profession that was more mindful, more deliberate, and more balanced—one that was not driven by impossible financial goals that led to burnout of talented professionals. The name of the business she envisions says it all: “Monkey Mind Solutions.”

This is an invitation-only group of professionals at every career stage, in academic, nonprofit management, consulting, and government. We share ideas and inspiration—and encouragement—to make sure that we can survive and thrive. The metrics matter: This group of professionals manage millions in operating budgets; we organizations serve thousands of clients and hundreds of communities. Our organizations cannot afford to falter. Together, in a caring professional setting, the participants agree to share ideas, so that all are stronger, together.
